White Lodging and TCP, Inc. Educate 5,300 Employees on Energy Savings at Work and In the Home

Merrillville, IN (August 22, 2007) – White Lodging, an Indiana-based property management group, shed a little light on the importance of energy-efficient lighting by participating in the Energy Star Change a Light, Change the World program, educating 5,300 employees on what they can do to help slow global warming. White Lodging partnered with TCP, Inc, the Aurora, Ohio-based lighting innovator and manufacturer of the most energy-efficient compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) in the industry, to distribute one CFL to each of their employees. The CFLs represent a reduction in energy consumption by 1,410,00 kWh or solid emissions in the air by 2,230,000 pounds.

Global warming is a serious problem,” begins John LaHaise, VP of Engineering, White Lodging. “White Lodging has started to do our part in preserving the environment by replacing all incandescent light bulbs throughout our properties with CFLs. We’ve seen great results in terms of energy savings, not to mention environmental protection. White Lodging is making a difference on a large-scale level, but we also recognize the impact individuals can make on a smaller scale. That’s why we held a Change a Light event.”

At the Change a Light event, every White Lodging employee received a CFL for use in their home as well as information telling them other ways to increase energy efficiency and do their part to reduce global warming.

TCP’s energy-efficient CFLs have an average life of 10,000 hours, which can last six to ten times longer than standard incandescent light bulbs. TCP’s products also use two-thirds less energy, leading to increased energy savings and lower utility costs.

“White Lodging employees have seen the difference CFLs make in the properties where they work and they’ve seen that CFLs produce the same lighting as incandescent bulbs,” said Kevin Youngquist, National Accounts, TCP.  “They understand that making the switch with just one light bulb in their home will produce results that benefit us all.”
